Apple Design Award Winner Procreate Updated With Full HD Canvas Recording

August 20, 2013
As if it's not already filled with enough features to make it the top choice for sketching, painting, and creating on an iPad, Procreate has just been updated with a new feature that propels it even further beyond the competition. The new feature in question is none other than full HD canvas recording. That's right: you can now record your canvas while you paint in the new version of the app, Procreate 1.9. What's more, the app boasts 1080p support for your canvas recording's video output. According to developer Savage Interactive, Procreate is "the first creative app to record your canvas in 1080p," and here's how the app does the job:
As you're probably aware, Procreate saves every stroke to disk as you paint. Video recording in Procreate 1.9 behaves in a similar manner. Every stroke you paint is recorded and saved into a movie container as soon as you lift from the screen. The save time is lightning quick at 1/30th of a second, so it is virtually impossible to catch it between save intervals.
If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Each recorded video is encoded with a start splash of the final artwork. And it can be easily saved to the Photos app, uploaded to Dropbox, exported to iTunes, or simply emailed to a friend. But full HD canvas recording is not the only new feature in Procreate 1.9. As I've mentioned in my previous post earlier, Procreate has also been updated with support for Wacom's new pressure-sensitive stylus, the Intuos Creative Stylus. Procreate 1.9 also includes improved support for the Adonit Jot Touch and a significantly improved brush cursor. Procreate 1.9 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $4.99 download. The app requires iOS 6.0 or later, and it's compatible with iPad 2, third-generation iPad, fourth-generation iPad, and iPad mini. Procreate is included in AppAdvice’s Best iPad Apps For Artists AppList and Drawing With Your iPad AppGuide. Procreate also happens to be one of this year's winners of the Apple Design Awards. And in celebration of this achievement, Savage Interactive has removed all in-app purchases and made the Artery brushes in Procreate available for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
