Cydia Tweak: How To Give Animations A Speed Boost Under iOS 7

March 28, 2014

Are you looking to speed up iOS animations under iOS 7? Then take a look at Speed Intensifier, a recently updated jailbreak tweak that can inject a bit of extra energy into the stock animations in Apple's mobile OS.

Speed Intensifier isn't new to the Cydia Store, but its most recent update has added compatibility and optimization for iOS 7. If you're not familiar with an older version of the jailbreak tweak, Speed Intensifier is designed to give the perception of faster iOS animations, which users can then customize to their own liking from a Settings app preferences pane.

You can download Speed Intensifier for iOS 7 free of charge on the Cydia Store, and once installed users must head over to the Settings app in order to set the package up. The main toggle available here lets users choose how much Speed Intensifier increases the speed of iOS animations: options range from double speed all the way up to an “infinity” setting.

By default, Speed Intensifier sets the speed increase at seven times the standard animation speed, and this feels like a big jump. Animations of course load up faster after the package has been enabled, but content doesn't always appear as promptly. You'll likely find that even with Speed Intensifier installed, there's still a slight delay between an iOS app loading and content appearing.

Nevertheless, the mere perception of a speed increase is quite convincing. It's worth noting though that if your qualms are with iOS 7's motion sickness-inducing animations, these can easily be disabled (even though Apple was said to have “cured” the problem with iOS 7.0.3).

If the iOS 7 animation speeds aren't fast enough for you, then take Speed Intensifier for a spin.

As mentioned, you can pick up the package free of charge on the Cydia Store, and it's optimized for both iOS 7 and ARM64-devices.
