Marvel Teams Up With GlitchSoft For Uncanny X-Men: Days Of Future Past Game

March 3, 2014
Marvel has just announced that it's working on a mobile game adaptation of the popular "Uncanny X-Men" story arc "Days of Future Past." As noted by Pocket Gamer, the entertainment company is collaborating with GlitchSoft for the upcoming game. GlitchSoft is the Ontario-based developer behind Star Marine: Infinite Ammo and the Chillingo-published He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe. The new game is based on the 1981 "Uncanny X-Men" storyline "Days of Future Past," on which the forthcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past" film is also based. Unsurprisingly, the game is identically titled Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past. The game's specific genre is yet unknown, but Marvel says it's going to be a 2-D side-scroller:
For the first time, Uncanny X-Men enthusiasts will be able to engage Marvel's 1981 landmark "Days of Future Past" comic book story arc in an immersive and story-driven game unlike anything available on mobile. Leveraging the Helios Game Engine, Glitchsoft's proprietary game development technology, "Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be rendered in a unique side-scrolling 2D format. "Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past" is designed for mid-core gamers and will deliver a fast-paced, rewarding, and combat-focused experience.
Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be launched on iOS in May, presumably on or before the film's theatrical release on May 23. Last January, Marvel launched X-Men: Battle of the Atom, a card battle game developed by Aeria Mobile based on the comic book crossover event of the same name, and Marvel Run Jump Smash, an endless runner featuring the Avengers. Later this month, it's expected to release the official game of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
