New Leaked Photos Show Display Measurement Of Apple's 5.5-Inch 'iPhone 6'

June 21, 2014

Apple is widely rumored to launch the so-called “iPhone 6” in two sizes, a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch one. The former has long been leaked in one way or another. But it's only recently that the latter has been represented in leaks, the latest of which comes in the form of a couple of images from noted Apple leaker Sonny Dickson.

Shared by Dickson with 9to5Mac, the images in question (see above) show the alleged LCD component of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 being measured with a ruler, which indicates a diagonal dimension of approximately 14cm.

As noted by the site:

That 14cm converts to the 5.5-inches heavily rumored for the next-generation Apple smartphone. While these photos do not provide us with any breakthrough information about the new iPhone, the photos, at best, do show that Apple is already producing components for the larger sized phone and this means that production is likely nearing.

Over the past week, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 was notably showcased in several mockup photos and a video comparing a dummy model of the handset with what may very well be its chief competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Apple is expected to launch the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 sometime after the release of its 4.7-inch counterpart in September. The unveiling of the iPhone 6 is rumored to coincide with the official release of iOS 8, which is also said to power Apple’s similarly rumored “iWatch,” reportedly set for launch in October.
