The Entertaining Thriller République Gets A New Story Mode In Its Latest Update

June 9, 2014
République, the "intense, thrilling, and topical stealth-action game," has received an update adding a less intense new story mode to the application. The game, which first launched on the App Store back in December, features an episodic mode of gameplay which sees protagonist Hope fighting against "an oppressive totalitarian state." At the time République launched on iOS, we highlighted it in our "Today's Best Apps" column; soon after, the game also received a special mention in our yearly edition of "How To Spend A $100 iTunes Gift Card." While an exciting and challenging game, however, République's latest update has been published in an attempt to make the application more accessible for iOS device owners. Amid concerns that République was too difficult, developer Camouflaj has added a new story mode that's easier to complete. In the app's release notes, Camouflaj explains:
New Story Mode: An easier experience recommended for players who just want to explore environments and experience the story.
Important bug fixes have also been applied in the update, meaning République should run better than ever. There's actually been no better time to take République for spin, because apart from its aforementioned update, the game can also be downloaded free of charge as part of Apple's App of the Week offering. The free application provides users with access to the first episode of République, however additional episodes will need to be purchased in-app. As mentioned, the recently updated République can be downloaded now free of charge on the App Store for a limited time. It's optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
