Google's Ingress global augmented reality game out now on iOS

July 14, 2014
Google has just released Ingress on iOS, seven months after it officially launched the game on Android. Developed by Niantic Labs, an internal startup within Google, Ingress is a near-real-time augmented reality massively multiplayer online pervasive game that "transforms the real world into the landscape for a global game of mystery, intrigue, and competition." In the game, you play as part of the Enlightened or the Resistance, with the former faction intent on embracing the power of a mysterious energy and the latter group bent on protecting humanity from it:
Move through the real world using your iOS device and the Ingress app to discover and tap sources of this mysterious energy. Acquire objects to aid in your quest, deploy tech to capture territory, and ally with other players to advance the cause of the Enlightened or the Resistance.
