BioShock will arrive on the App Store later tonight

August 27, 2014

One of the best console games of all time, BioShock, is finally arriving on the App Store. Developer 2K Games has announced that the title will be available to download on iOS devices starting later tonight.

The game will set you back $14.99. For that price, don’t expect to worry about dealing with any in-app purchases.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to have a newer iOS device to run the game. It will be compatible with the iPad Air, fourth-generation iPad, iPad mini with Retina display, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5.

Originally released in 2007 for the Xbox 360 and Windows PCs, the iOS port of BioShock will arrive with scaled-down graphics to meet Apple’s maximum download limit of 2GB for App Store titles.

Along with touchscreen overlay controls, the game is MFi controller compatible.

An iOS version of the game has been rumored since 2008, so this is definitely great news for fans of the first-person shooter. I’m ready to return to Rapture, and I suspect I’m not the only one.

Back in July, 2K teased the news on Twitter saying “Come bite the Apple!” Official confirmation of the game arrived a few weeks ago.
