New video all but confirms 2,915 mAh battery capacity for 5.5-inch 'iPhone 6'

September 8, 2014

Last week, photos showing the rumored battery of the 5.5-inch “iPhone 6″ were leaked by NWE. Now, the site has shared a video showing the key energy storage component of the larger version of Apple’s next-generation smartphone.

Like the previously leaked photos, the new video shows the 5.5-inch iPhone 6′s battery as having a capacity of 2,915 mAh. This is nearly twice as high as the 1,560 mAh battery capacity in Apple’s current smartphones, the 4-inch iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. It’s also considerably greater than the rumored 1,810 mAh battery capacity of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

Check out the video below, which also shows the connector that links the battery to the device’s motherboard:

Apple’s iPhones have long been criticized for its supposed short battery life, earning users of the devices the moniker “wall huggers.”

But with the higher-capacity batteries that are expected to be found in Apple’s new iPhones, along with battery life improvements made possible in iOS 8 and by Apple’s new “A8″ processor, perhaps iPhone users need not be wall huggers any longer.

We’ll know for certain just how much juice the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models can pack once they’re unveiled by Apple at its special media event tomorrow, Sept. 9.
