Google's Waze updated with Today widget, improved drive sharing and more

December 16, 2014

Waze, the popular Google-owned personal navigation app, has just received a major update that delivers a handful of improvements.

The update adds support for Waze’s own Today widget. With this widget enabled, you can quickly view your ETA for home or work, initiate navigation with one tap, and send your current drive and ETA during navigation right from the Notification Center in iOS 8.

The new version of Waze also introduces a new send button in the main menu, from which you can easily send a location and share your drive. Sharing your drive is now also much simpler with the new design and layout demoed below:

Moreover, in the newly updated Waze, ETA and route changes now include richer traffic information and there’s a new map display setting for automatically switching between 2-D and 3-D views.

Of course, the new Waze update also includes bug fixes and performance improvements.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, Waze is available on the App Store for free.

Waze received its previous major update late last September. That update introduced Waze Places, enabling users to help make local information fresh and accurate by adding or editing places including businesses and residential locations.
