Sports fans have yet another new viewing option on their Apple TV. The latest channel to be added to the streaming media device is NBC Sports Live Extra, which arrived earlier today.

The channel will broadcast more than 3,000 live sporting events per year:

In addition to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Triple Crown, Live Extra streams all live sports content televised by NBC, NBCSN and Golf Channel, including: the Summer and Winter Olympics; Sunday Night Football and NBC’s NFL pre-season and post-season coverage; NHL regular-season games; the PGA TOUR, including the FedExCup Playoffs, and the LPGA; the Premier League; studio content surrounding many of the aforementioned properties; original programming such as The Dan Patrick Show and Men In Blazers; and much more.

Unfortunately, like a number of other Apple TV channels, you’ll need to log-in with your cable company credentials.

If you’re interested in viewing the NBC Sports content on your iOS device, you can download the similar NBC Sports Live Extra app on the App Store now.

After cutting the price of the current generation device to $69 in March, Apple is widely expected to unveil the next-generation Apple TV as early as this summer.

Apple is also rumored to be putting the finishing touches on a subscription streaming TV service, much like Sling TV, that could also be announced with the new hardware. A 25-channel bundle, with content from ABC, CBS, Fox, and others, could cost between $30 and $40 per month.
