Capitals, a word game with a strategic twist, lands on the App Store

NimbleBit’s latest app, Capitals, has officially arrived on the App Store. As the name suggests, it’s an interesting take on the word game genre.

Taking place on a hex grid, you’ll battle against another player for territory. Making a word with tiles that touch or lead back to your own territory expands it.

Here’s a quick promo video that shows more about how to play the game. Click here if you can’t see it.

A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Capitals can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

As with this type of game, there are a number of in-app purchases to select from, including more customization options or for a quick refill of lives.

I’ve already played a few games of Capitals and have really enjoyed it. While you’ll still need some word-creating prowess, the tactical component adds a unique and interesting twist. I’m looking forward to playing the game more during the long holiday weekend.

And make sure to come back tomorrow as our own Christine Chan will post a comprehensive review of the game.
