Match cards together carefully in Pair Away

Match cards together carefully in Pair Away

When you want to improve your concentration and strategy skills, few games are better than good matching games. Unfortunately, most of the options available for matching games fall into the Candy Crush Saga pattern, but one new game on the App Store is more akin to the old Concentration card game. Pair Away is an entertaining little app that will challenge your strategy and concentration skills, improving them as you progress through the game.

Match cards

The premise behind Pair Away is simple. You have a playing field of cards with different symbols, and you have to match them. Each pair you match gets you points, which you can use to unlock additional difficulty levels and themes, like animal cards or a food pack.

It might look easy, but it isn’t

The unique spin is that the cards first dealt aren’t all you have to work with. You also have cards left in the deck, which get dealt out as you complete matches. This puts an additional hint of randomness into the game that can force you to change your strategy as you get into the game. Winning a level, though, gets you bonus pairs and a nice congratulations message.

A fun time-passer

Pair Away is a fun way to pass the time and improve your mind skills at the same time. The game is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and requires iOS 8.0 or later. Pair Away is a free download on the App Store, and uses ads and in-app purchases to support the game. The ads are infrequent, and I was able to play through several levels before one popped up.
