Rebtel takes back the phone lines with Internet-free calling
If you have friends and family in different countries, it might be expensive keeping up with them other than through Facebook. International calling isn’t cheap, or at least it wasn’t. Rebtel, the app that wants to do away with borders, has recently been rebranded and updated with a new feature called Rebel Calling, something that will revolutionize how you think about calling apps.
No Internet requiredRebel Calling allows for unlimited and free app-to-app calling without the need for an Internet connection. It works by using the telephone lines instead of a data connection, so you get the best possible call quality at the lowest price. Rebtel CEO Magnus Larsson explained the thought behind this move.
Free and unlimited? At Rebtel, we’re redefining the way we communicate via calling in the same way WhatsApp overtook text messaging. By taking back the phone lines from the corporations and putting it in the hands of the consumers, we’re allowing them to connect with anyone they want in the world. Our wifi-free calling service provides the best possible call quality at the lowest price, and having already completed over 1 billion minutes in calls abroad yearly, we’re ready to break even more boundaries.
Rebel Calling provides for unlimited app-to-app calling for just $1 per month, but the service is currently free for 2016. For your international calling needs, unlimited calls are as low as $5 per month.
With international calling plans, you subscribe to a specific country for a monthly subscription fee. You pay conveniently via in-app purchase, or you can go to Rebtel’s website to make payment there.
Getting Rebel CallingRebtel is available as a free download on the App Store. It requires iOS 8 or later, and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Check out the Rebtel “anti-anthem” below, or click here if it fails to load.
