COFHED

COFHED is an innovative community engagement organization with roots in rural Haiti, mobilizing and equipping citizens to create a shared vision for a sustainable future.

COFHED has been partnering with communities in Southern Haiti since 2003. We engage with rural marginalized citizens in a process that:
• Takes time to build bi-directional trusting relationships.
• Values community members and their capacity to act.
• Mobilizes community members through a collective, reflective consciousness raising approach which encourages them to visualize their life differently.
• Is based on identifying, recognizing and building upon existing community resources and skills.
• Allows community members to drive the change.
• Encourages mindset change which results in both visible and invisible outcomes.
• Provides an intermediary for the community in partnering with outside organizations.
