Egyptian Pharmacopoeia

The pharmacopoeia is an official release issued by the state represented by the authorized party from the government to issue it, and it has the status of law. It includes important medicines and their vocabulary, including the definition of each of them, their specifications, tests for their identification, tests for their degree of purity, methods of calibration and preparation, and their quantities when used. It is an approved scientific reference for everything related to medicines and pharmaceutical preparations.

The Egyptian Pharmacopoeia is a publication of Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and through the establishment of its quality standards, plays a significant role in ensuring the quality of medicines and fostering innovation.


The Egyptian Pharmacopoeia shares EDA dedication to collaborate with all of our stakeholders, from our business partners to our regulatory and pharmacopoeia counterparts around the world as a breadth of expertise is required to develop standards that guarantee patients' expectations for high-quality medications.


As the need to comply with international requirements and standards is becoming increasingly important, especially in this age of globalisation. So, The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), academic institutions, and the pharmaceutical sector collaborated with The Egyptian Pharmacopoeia to develop the 5th Edition in response to the need for global advancement and harmonisation.
