Scour everything. With your magnifying glass, make sure to explore every nook and cranny of a scene. There are clues everywhere, and even hidden collectibles to find, as well as hint coins for solving puzzles. When you see the magnifying glass turn orange or have a puff of dust, you know something's up!
Get clues. Each case will have six major clues to find by talking to characters. These clues gives you a piece of the puzzle, and you have to put it in the right place to paint the bigger picture! Once all clues are found, the case can be solved.
Solve puzzles. There are plenty of puzzles to find and solve in Layton's Mystery Journey. The puzzles are all different, and some may offer huge clues to cases, so it's important that you solve as many as you can. They're all worth points too, but the number of points decreases if you need multiple attempts to solve a puzzle. Think carefully!
What is it about?
Visually, Layton’s Mystery Journey fits in with the other games because of the cartoonish art style. Throughout the game, players will find lively character sprites that appear as though they came out of an old-school anime series, like _Lupin the 3rd_. Everyone has their own unique appearances, personalities, and quirks, which you’ll grow to love the more you play. Colors in Layton’s Mystery Journey are bright and vibrant, with lush and detailed environments. There are also fully animated cutscenes that play out and reveal the story, which are fun to watch. A subtle, soothing soundtrack plays in the background, and there are delightful sound effects as you move around the city, talk to characters, and explore for clues.
