Locutus

Let's face it, most work assignments happen outside of a project—a hallway conversation at work, over dinner, or simply a thought we have while we are doing something else. Wouldn't it be great if there was an easy way to capture these when we have them? Something that didn't require a lot of set-up but was powerful enough that it could keep track of our work and also work we assigned to others? We think so too, which is why we created Locutus.

Imagine being in a team meeting where you were asked to complete a quick assignment. With Locutus, you can create a task and assign "ownership" (accountability) of the task to your supervisor. You immediately receive responsibility to complete the task as its Delegate. You can work on the task, and your supervisor is automatically updated on your progress.

Or, imagine you have asked someone else to complete a task for you. You create a task in Locutus, delegate it to someone else, and you both can log progress updates and work on it, collaboratively if you wish, until it is complete. Locutus will keep track of it all and neither of you has to worry about being out-of-the-loop.

Locutus uses a token-based login. You only need to give it your phone number and a display name of your choosing and you're in. We don't collect any personal information, we don't market to you, and we don't collect or sell your information to anyone.

EASY TASK CREATION AND DELEGATION
With Locutus, you can create a task with a deadline and level of effort and assign it to someone all in under 20 seconds. Our mission is to help you capture and track all those tasks that make up most of our daily lives that are not part of a formal project. We don't try to make you fit inside of some project management box—we just augment the way you naturally work.

Locutus helps you capture and manage all the little tasks that make up your life. You can keep it simple with just a few tasks for yourself, or as complex as you want with support for infinite tasks and subtasks and the power to select and delegate any task hierarchy to someone else. Locutus automatically builds a view of your entire work life without requiring you to set up a complicated project and category-based environment first.

THE PRINCIPAL AND THE DELEGATE
Use Locutus to assign accountability and responsibility for tasks. Ask an employee (or your partner or friend) to do a task for you—to be responsible for completing the work and reporting when it is done. Or, assign the accountability to someone you want to receive your progress. In Locutus, we call the person who assigns the work the Principal, and the person who is responsible for doing the task the Delegate.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Locutus lets you track the amount of time you spend on any task and how complete you think it is. Why do so many task managers only allow you to set a task as complete or incomplete? We don't know either, but life doesn't work that way.

Each time you work on a task you can create a quick Progress Report where you can log your time, completeness level and add some notes to remind yourself (or inform another person) of what you did and where you are with the task. It is much like a journal showing your progress.

AT-A-GLANCE STATUS
Know in an instant which tasks you own, which are assigned to you, and which are assigned to someone else. Locutus makes it easy with special icons that convey ownership and current status. We use whatever information you've given us to adjust icon colour and shape to make it easy to see where you are.
