Apple Launches Research App With Three Medical Studies

November 14, 2019

Apple has just released its new Research app with three opt-in studies for users in the United States.

Three Studies

Users with an iPhone and Apple Watch can help researchers in three different areas. Currently, users can enroll in the Apple Women’s Health Study, the Apple Heart and Movement Study, and the Apple Hearing Study.

The Women’s Health Study is looking to better understand menstrual cycles and how they relate to various health conditions like infertility and osteoporosis.

Requiring an iPhone and Series 1 or later Apple Watch, the Heart and Movement Study will record workouts to better understand how movements can better provide insight into someone’s current and future health.

Finally, the Hearing Study will collect noise data to see how exposure will affect hearing over time. It will also research how noise levels can effect stress levels and cardiovascular health.

All data is only shared when you approve. There is also a clear enrollment flow with detailed consent. You can also control what type of data is shared with researchers.

The Apple Research app can be downloaded now on the App Store.
