Apple Surprises With the New iPadOS

June 3, 2019

In the biggest surprise of the WWDC keynote, Apple announced that the software powering an iPad is now named iPadOS.

On the multitasking front, Split View and Slide Over are getting huge updates including the addition of multi-window support and an app Expose view.

The Files app also features a column view that provides a file preview, quick actions and more. It will also allow iCloud folder sharing. Files can also read a thumb drive, SD card, or external hard drive.

Safari on iPad will also feature desktop-like browsing to the screen for a better experience. You’ll also see a Download Manager and 30 keyboard shortcuts.

Instead of having to shake an iPad to undo, you can now just swipe with three fingers to the left.

Using an Apple Pencil will only have a 9 millisecond lag, down from 20 milliseconds. In any app, you can just scroll up with an Apple Pencil for markup.
