Foursquare Now Lets You Send Swarm Stickers in iMessage
With the official release of iOS 10 yesterday, third-party stickers have seemingly become all the rage for iMessage users. And you can’t blame them: Stickers add a layer of fun and even vitality to conversations. It’s small wonder why a number of developers have been so quick in offering their own sticker packs. One of these developers is Foursquare, which has brought the colorful stickers in its popular location check-in app, Swarm, to iMessage.
Swarm stickers in iMessage
That’s right: Some of the stickers you’ve come to know and love in Swarm, the ones you like to use with your check-ins, can now also be used in your conversations in iMessage. And it’s thanks to the latest update to Swarm, which introduces the app’s iMessage sticker pack extension.
With the extension, you can just send the Joey Beans sticker to invite a friend to grab coffee, the Beer? sticker to summon your drinking buddy to your favorite haunt, or the ETA? sticker to ask how much longer before the person you’re meeting up with arrives. And as with other sticker packs, you can also stick Swarm stickers onto chat bubbles and even other stickers.
Swarm trivia game and perks
The latest update to Swarm also introduces an in-app trivia game. “It’s simple,” Foursquare explains. “Every so often you’ll be quizzed about past check-ins. When were you last at the gym? Seen your pal Tracey recently?” More than a trip down Swarm memory lane, the trivia game is an opportunity to earn more coins as correct answers lead to bonus coins.
And speaking of coins, you can now use them to unlock and redeem special perks, initially available in the U.S. in partnership with third-party businesses. When you check in to participating businesses, you can spend coins in exchange for perks such as discounts (e.g. 20 percent off) and deals (e.g. buy one drink, get one free).
Foursquare for iOS 10
Apart from its Swarm check-in app, the main Foursquare location search and recommendation app has also just received a notable update.
The new version of Foursquare sports a new look, featuring a simplified home screen with faster search, thematic and timely recommendations at the top of the screen, and more insight on tips from the community.
And specially on iOS 10, the updated Foursquare app features rich notifications.
Have you ever had the magical experience of getting the perfect recommendation, before you even start looking for a place to go? We’ve taken advantage of the new features in iOS 10, with notifications that give you even more details and information on recommended venues without having to unlock your phones. If you don’t have your Foursquare notifications turned on, now’s a good time to do so.
