Leaked image confirms 'iPhone SE' name and 16GB storage option

The “Let us loop you in” is just days away, on Monday, March 21. Recently, 9to5Mac has discovered a photograph on Chinese social media site Weibo that is supposedly part of the specification sheet for the rumored 4-inch “iPhone SE” that is expected to be unveiled at that event. The image, if it’s legitimate, confirms several of the rumors we’ve seen circulating about the iPhone SE.

This leaked photograph of the iPhone SE spec sheet confirms many of the rumors about the device

The specification sheet confirms that the device will be called the iPhone SE, and it depicts a 16GB model of the device. We’ve been expecting to see 16GB and 64GB variants of the new handset, so this confirms the continued availability of the smaller storage option.

Additionally, you can note that the spec sheet refers to the device including a Near-Field Communication (NFC) chip, which would allow for Apple Pay support in the iPhone SE. Absent is any information about the processor in the device, but I still believe previous reports that the iPhone SE will have the same processor as the iPhone 6s, the A9 microchip, but will not have 3D Touch capabilities.

The image could prove to be fake, of course, but I believe it’s legitimate. We’re just days away from launch, and there’s often a pattern to these late rumors. As our own Bryan Wolfe has stated in the past, late rumors and leaks concerning Apple product launches are usually true.

We’ll find out for certain in a few days, when the “Let us loop you in” event kicks off at 10 a.m. PDT on March 21. We’re also expecting that event to see the launch of a 9.7-inch iPad Pro and additional band options for the Apple Watch.
