Manage Your Wireless World with the Wi-Fi Widget App
A great new app, Wi-Fi Widget, allows users to check their Internet status, share their network password, and more all from their lockscreen.
A wonderful widget
As the name suggests, the app is a simple widget that can provide a host of timely information about whatever network you’re connected to. Once downloaded, just head to the app. There you can see the current network and enter the password.
All password information is safe and secured since it is stored in your iCloud Keychain account.
To install the widget, head to the Notification Center’s Today view and then scroll to the bottom and Select edit. Scroll down and hit the “+” sign to add the Wi-Fi Widget.
No unlocking needed
After adding the widget to your Notification Center, it's easily accessible without even needing to unlock a phone.
3D Touch enabled
And if you're working on your iPhone 6s or later, you can 3D Touch the app icon to bring up the same information including network name and a latency test. Just hit the share button to send password info.
Download now
You can download Wi-Fi Widget now on the App Store for a limited-time price of $0.99. After the sale, the price will jump up to $2.99. The app is designed for both the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models.
The widget is well-designed and is a great tool for any iOS device users, especially those who often switch wireless networks. At least for me, the ability to quickly and easily share your home Wi-Fi password is easily worth the price of admission.
