Mario Kart Tour Will Drift into the App Store Sept. 25

August 29, 2019

The countdown is on. The latest mobile game from Nintendo, Mario Kart Tour, will race into the App Store on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Taking the classic franchise to the iPhone and iPad, the game will feature a one-finger control system to steer and drift. That also means the game will only be available to play in vertical mode.

Mario and friends will race on courses inspired by real-world cities along with other classic courses. The destination courses will rotate every two weeks, and many of the racers will receive variations that incorporate the city.

In Frenzy Mode, you’ll receive an unlimited supply of a certain item and become invincible for a limited time.

During the race, you can earn Grand Stars to unlock more drivers along with different carts and gliders.

There is apparently no online multiplayer feature, which is definitely a disappointment. But you can compare your scores with other players from around the world.

Nintendo is promising to announce more details about the game before it arrives.

Mario Kart Tour will be available for both the iPhone and iPad. It will be free to download with in-app purchases. You can pre-order the game now on the App Store. There will be a number of different in-app purchases available.

With a pre-order, the game will automatically download to your iPhone or iPad when available.
