Pako 2 Delivers A Sequel Done Right

February 7, 2018

Be one with the getaway driver in the new Pako 2. The original came out back in 2014 to deliver micro arcade getaway driving with runs usually lasting no more than 30 seconds. The App Store has changed a lot since then, and Pako 2 keeps that in mind as it expands every aspect of the original. The sequel provides all new expansive landscapes to drive across with a scrolling list of alternating missions. Each run begins by picking up some robbers, and then you need to drive to drop off locations, and then pick up a new crew, which leads to a new drop off location, and you rinse and repeat for as long as you can.

Copter Escape

Every successful delivery nets you cash that you can use to either unlock new vehicles or new locations. There are over 20 cars and five different locations to unlock with each combination creating a different set up. Through it all, most runs play the same as you drive to the initial pick up, and then try to follow the on screen arrow to the next location. The game begins in a desert with an easier landscape to follow, but later locations introduce ice, mountainsides, and more to contend with in your getaway. Each time you successfully reach a location, more cops join the action, but your car automatically fires back as long as there’s a proper angle lined up. Police helicopters join the action to make for eventful mad dashes across town to reach each location.

The car chase simulator returns with more action and more expansive locations.

Tons of Action

The best part of Pako is that you’re always bordering on the edge of destruction thanks to the low HP, camera angle, and speed of the game. There’s a top down perspective that only gives you so much of what’s to come, requiring you to react more than plan. Most vehicles begin around 3-5 HP, which means cops need to collide with you just a few times before it’s game over. Luckily, you can earn back HP with each new location that you reach, so it makes it that much more thrilling to race along in the direction of the on screen arrow. Pako 2 feels a lot like the original with more police action from Smash Cops and the more expansive maps of Reckless Getaway 2. Pako 2 isn’t quite on the level of chaotic pacing of Reckless Getaway 2, but it is close enough.

Pako 2 is worth picking up for a shot of some fun filled driving action on iOS.
