Do you want to know what the rumored 4-inch “iPhone SE” will look like, a week before it’s offically revealed? According to the folks over at YouTube channel Beeep, the new device has already been spotted in the wild. In the so-called “Silicon Valley of hardware,” Huaqiangbei Commercial Street in Shenzhen, China, Beeep was able to go hands-on with a device reported to be the iPhone SE.

Our rumors have been pointing to a form factor similar to the iPhone 5s, but with the curved glass found on newer iOS devices. By contrast, the displayed “iPhone SE” has the size of the iPhone 5s, but the rounded corners of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. It also has the protruding camera found on the larger iOS device.

The sources at Beeep were able to take a number of photographs of the device, shown to the right. We have no way to confirm whether these images are really of the iPhone SE or not, but I think they’re fake. With that said, they might be counterfeits manufactured based on the actual product specifications.

The most glaring things missing from these devices lead me to believe these pictures are of an iPhone counterfeit. First, I’d expect the device label to say “iPhone SE” or something else to differentiate it. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, is the lack of the typical engraved manufacturing information, model numbers, and so forth.

The purported iPhone SE found in the wild lacks any text below the iPhone engraving.

Check out the video Beeep posted, or click here if it fails to load. In case you missed it, the iPhone SE should be announced next week, March 21, at a special Apple event. We’ll be covering the event in its entirety, and will keep you up to date about further rumors and leaks.

What do you think of the video? Is this the iPhone SE in the wild, or a counterfeit? Let us know in the comments.
