Quirky App Of The Day: Knights Of The Kingdom Vs. Temple Dragons Is Here

February 15, 2013

A Knights of the Kingdom vs. Temple Dragons Game (Free) by Shannon Le is an endless runner with a unique twist. Instead of needing to dodge everything that’s in your path, you can obliterate obstacles and decimate dragons. As a knight of the kingdom, it’s your job to protect your home for as long as possible.

Like other apps, you’re free to move your character around the screen wherever you want. You need to find little pockets where it’s safe until you destroy whatever is in front of you. The ability to move forwards and backwards comes with a price though. As with other apps that let you move freely, you have more obstacles to avoid than in more movement restricted games.

Another advantage is the ability to remove obstacles or dragons by shooting your weapon at them. Usually, endless runner games are about dodging the monsters for as long as possible. You can jump and dodge as you race towards the finish. In this game, you aren’t able to do either. You have to physically remove whatever might finish you off before you touch it or avoid it altogether.

One drawback to the game is the obscure boundary between you and something that you’re not supposed to touch. There’s no real indicator that you’re too close. You don’t have to actually touch the object to lose. Just getting too close will do you in. That can be annoying if you’re farther along in the level and have to do some fancy footwork to avoid any dragons.

I like how cute this game looks. The characters are adorable and the dragons look like little plush toys. I also liked being able to unlock new characters with the gems that you collect throughout the level. It gives you a small goal to work towards.

A Knights Of The Kingdom Vs. Temple Dragons Game is a universal app, and it’s available in the App Store for FREE!
