Who We Are
Welcome to our Channel. Hopefully, you will find a quick and easy picture of who First Baptist is and what First Baptist is doing.
First Baptist Church was formed in 1901 and has for all these years remained faithful to the Word of God, to sharing Jesus Christ with people, and to meeting needs in the name of Jesus. As you navigate through the website, you will see countless opportunities to grow spiritually and to serve.
Charles Redmond, Senior Pastor
What We Believe
Nothing in creation “just happened.” God made it all.
God is bigger and better and closer than we can imagine.
The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living. It is the inspired, inerrant Word of God.
Jesus is God showing Himself to us.
God has given every person a free will to choose Christ or to reject Him.
We enter into a personal relationship with God by repenting of our sins and placing our trust in Jesus Christ.
Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through us now.
Baptism by immersion is an act of obedience whereby we publicly identify with Jesus Christ.
God is completely sovereign. He is totally in control of every situation. Everything we experience in life has either been caused by God or allowed by God. He promises to bring good even out of bad to those who love Him.
Heaven and hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end.
The church is to serve people like Jesus served people.
Jesus is coming again!!
Mission Statement
We, the people of First Baptist Church, are the body of Christ in this place. Our desire is to live under the Lordship of Christ and according to the truth in His Word. We have been placed here to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Worship:
To draw near to God in grateful praise and thanksgiving for our salvation and for all of our other blessings (James 4:8, Romans 12:1, Hebrews 10:25).
Evangelism:
As a result of these blessings, we strive to share the good news of Christ with everyone who needs to hear (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8).
Discipleship:
To teach the Word of God in order to equip Christians to walk with Jesus and to faithfully serve Him (Matthew 28:20, Acts 18:11, Colossians 3:16).
Ministry:
To provide a network of loving concern and support for those in need (Matthew 25:34-40, Galatians 6:2, 10).
Fellowship:
To encourage one another in Christian love and spiritual growth, working together in a spirit of unity (Hebrews 10:24, Ephesians 4:3-4, Acts 2:42).
Why Membership Matters
There are four reasons why church membership is important:
Membership identifies you as a believer.
Membership provides you a spiritual family to support and encourage you.
Membership provides accountability to help you grow spiritually.
How To Become A Member
First Baptist is a body of believers united by our desire to follow Jesus Christ. If it is your desire to join with us we warmly invite you to become a member. Here are the steps to becoming a member:
At the close of each worship service, our pastor will extend an invitation for you to come forward. You will be greeted by a minister who will guide you in your decision.
You can join our church in one of three ways:
By profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
If you will receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord and follow Him in baptism by immersion, we will welcome you into our fellowship.
By transfer of membership from another Baptist church
As a Baptist whose membership is elsewhere, should God direct you to First Baptist Church we will be glad to welcome you into the First Family. We will take care of the appropriate details for the transferring of your membership. You need only to present yourself for membership at the conclusion of any worship service.
By statement of faith
If you have placed your faith in Jesus for your salvation, you can join our church by your statement of faith in Him. In our New Members’ Class, we will discuss what it means to be a Christian and what the Bible teaches about baptism.
