The Sims 3 And NFS Undercover Coming To The App Store

February 6, 2009
We already knew that Need for Speed Undercover would be making an appearance at the App Store because late last year there was a video showcasing the game in a playable form. The hit title ended up getting lost in the shuffle due to delays and we haven't seen much of it since, until now. Just a couple days ago Craig Wien, the EA Mobile Community Manager, posted brand new screenshots of Need for Speed Undercover for the iPhone which has rekindled the flame for some but the game still has no official release date. The Sims 3 has also seen its fair share of delays but it is finally on its way. The Sims 3 is going to be released for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPod touch and other mobile devices this summer. The only guaranteed launch date is for the PC version which launches worldwide June 2, 2009. There are few details available for the iPhone version of The Sims 3 so we can only assume at this point. In an attempt to dig a little deeper we contacted EA Mobile for more information but all they could give us was the game is still much in development. The point of all of this is, could these two games be the start of the premium games section at the App Store? Both titles have extremely high production values and are established franchises which is what the rumors have said Apple is trying to bring to the App Store. The Sims 3 is guaranteed to be a great success and I just don't see how they would be able to sell it for less than $19.99, as long as all of the features remain intact. Maybe EA held Need for Speed Undercover back while adding polish and a few finishing touches to the game just so it could be released at the right moment. Yes, this is just pure speculation but no matter what happens the iPhone is getting some huge game titles this year and that's all that matters.
