Apple Wins Four Gold iF Design Awards

March 5, 2009
The International Forum Design handed out their coveted gold design awards on the opening day of this year's CeBIT conference. Apple was able to take home four of the fifty gold awards handed out. The competition included 2,808 entries from 39 different nations. The criteria used in the judging process consisted of design quality, workmanship and innovativeness just to name a few. Apple received the gold design awards for the iPhone 3G, iPod touch, iPod nano, and the MacBook Air. The judges specifically gave the iPhone glowing reviews:
“Twice the speed in 3G networks, a refinement and minimalist incorporation of the previous features — what can you say about the epitome of mobile communication and the icon of the 21st century except: ‘Superb’!”
I am sure the Apple Industrial Design Team will have that one hanging on their walls for quite some time. These awards are nothing to scoff at. The iF design awards have been handed out for over a half-century. The International Forum Design was launched in 2001 as a separate arm of the original company specifically to oversee iF's business operations, including the awards ceremony. [via Macworld]
