iPhone OS 3.0 To Include Video Editing Tools?

April 6, 2009

videoeditingtools2 The current iPhone 3G sports some pretty basic camera options, so all of the rumors stating the next-gen iPhone will include a 3.2MP camera, video recording, and video publishing seem like pretty big hopes and dreams, but why stop there?  Ben at Austrian site Benm.at has spotted some unused art resources within the iPhone OS 3.0 beta that may indicate Apple will be bringing video editing tools to the iPhone. The art resources specifically reference an edit bar as well as movie scrubbing.  Since these are only art resources and not actual images or even a working editor, we can only assume what Apple intended them for. If the next-gen iPhone actually contains everything that has been rumored, video editing tools don't seem like nearly as much of a stretch.  With a super powered CPU, GPU, and 3.2MP camera, there would be no reason that the iPhone couldn't capture and edit video.  Don't get your hopes too high though, you don't want to be sorely disappointed when the next-gen iPhone is launched without some of these features.
