How long does it take to make a commercial RPG game for the iPhone? Well, according to three hard working team members it should only take a total of 30 days.
The three team members are Craig, one of the people currently working on the openpandora.org project, ZodTTD, and Ruckage. Craig is the only one with commercial programming experience, having done commercial Gameboy work. ZodTTD is a programmer known for his emulator ports to various platforms, and he is the only one with previous iPhone experience. Ruckage is an artist who has worked on various GP2X games. The all have come together to create a game from scratch called Wizzley Presto and the Mysterious Time Machine in under thirty days.
The coolest thing about the project is that they are documenting their progress on their website 30daygame.com. The blog is being updated every few days with all types of information concerning the development of the game. In the end, this should be a great source of information for any interested iPhone game developers. The icing on the cake is, once Wizzley Presto is finished and placed at the App Store, the team will be awarding a $1,000 prize to the first person to complete the game.
At the time of this post, they only have 17 days left to finish. So what do you think, will they be able to finish? We will just have to wait and see.
Below is a demo video created for Wizzley Presto after only 5 days into development:
