iPhone 3G S Vs. 2G iPod Touch - Fight!

The iPhone 3G S is supposed to be fast, we get it.  That's what the "S" was tacked on the end for, it stands for speed.  So yeah, it's fast, but how fast is it really? The iPhone 3G S is faster than any other Apple portable device and you will notice it right away, that's what lead me to my little experiment.  I wanted a visual representation of just how fast the iPhone 3G S was.  I chose to pit my 32GB 2G iPod touch against my new 32GB iPhone 3G S.  As you may or may not know, the second generation iPod touch was the fastest device before the iPhone 3G S came along. I chose to compare the load times of two games: Peggle and The Sims 3.  Both games are known to have long initial load times, so they seemed like the best choices.  Now, this isn't exactly a scientific test, but you get the point. The iPhone 3G S is the one without a case, which means that the iPod touch is the one with the bright lime colored case.  Are you ready to be amazed? Peggle speed test:

On average, Peggle was able to load within about 8 seconds on the iPhone 3G S.  It took the iPod touch about 15 seconds to load to the same point.

The Sims 3 speed test:

Pretty much the same results here.  It took the iPhone 3G S only about 8 seconds once again to load The Sims 3.  In comparison, it took the iPod touch about 14 seconds. Of course these are just load times for games, but it at least shows you how much quicker you will be able to do anything and everything on an iPhone 3G S.  Doesn't this make you want an iPhone 3G S a little bit more?
