If you haven't noticed by now, the switch to our new site AppAdvice was more than just a simple design change. It contains all kinds of handy new features including the all-important
AppLists. AppLists are our way of helping you find the best apps for your specific needs and wants, and today we have a new AppList for you that features apps that are push notification capable.
Push notifications are exactly what the name describes. It is a service that is able to forward notifications from app servers to your iPhone or iPod touch. Notifications can appear as badges, sounds, and text alerts to notify you when one has been received. Since
iPhone OS 3.0 hasn't been released yet, there are very few push notification capable apps available in the App Store at this time. Once the new OS has been released, however, you should begin seeing more and more apps that utilize this feature. To help you keep up-to-date with all of these apps, we have created our new "
Apps That Push You" AppList. The list currently contains only a few apps, but we will be updating it as more become available.
We will also be providing even more AppLists for you in the near future, so keep watching the AppLists section of our site.
