About a week ago, a video of the popular first-person puzzle game Portal running on an iPhone 3G spread across the web. The video and the game port, however, wasn't created by Valve, the original developers of the game. Because of this, some believed that the game was possibly a hoax and would never see the light of day. Apparently this Portal clone is not a hoax and it has already seen the light of day, at least sort of.
TouchArcade was recently sent a provisioned copy of the Portal clone. They state that game in its current form is "rather buggy," as your character tends to fall through the levels at times and the gravity portion of the game when going through a portal needs a bit of tweaking, but it is real, and that's what counts.
Valve has remained silent on the matter, and of course without their blessing, this game will remain a simple dream for most gamers. Still, anything is possible at this point, and I for one hope that Portal makes its way to the iPhone in one form or another. Maybe Valve will decide to let this version get published as long as it's made available for free? Valve is very understanding when it comes to fan creations within the modding community after all.
Below is a gameplay video for the first level of this Portal port for the iPhone.
