Facebook v3.0, finally n6628568379_9335It's difficult to even describe the amount of hype that was surrounding the release of Facebook v3.0.  I have never seen so many people get so excited about a single app.  Though the wait seemed like an eternity, Facebook v3.0 did finally arrive on August 27th.  The app sports all kinds of new features, including a brand new interface.  The one feature it is still sorely lacking, however, is Push Notifications.  That feature should be arriving in v3.1, so now you have another update to look forward to. Those sneaky Yelpers yelp_monocleiPhone app developers can be a sneaky bunch.  Early in the day on August 27th we published a post about the latest Yelp update and how it helps you be thrifty.  On that very same the day we had to publish another post about the Yelp update post.  Apparently those sneaky Yelp developers snuck an augmented reality feature into the app that can be activated by shaking your device three times.  This surprised nearly everyone because augmented reality apps aren't supposed to hit the App Store until iPhone OS 3.1 is released. App Store approval process strikes again convertbot_timeiconJust when we though the approval process was getting better, this happens.  Apple rejected a recent Convertbot update because the icon the developer used for "Time" too closely resembled Apple's own "Recent" icon.  This really wouldn't be a problem, except that it is the same icon that was included in Convertbot's v1.0 release.  Apple also began forcing developers to remove "free memory" functionality from their apps, but apparently not all of them because Memory Sweep still remains in the App Store. New and noteworthy apps madden10Alive 4-Ever hit the App Store with top-down zombie shooting goodness, but it is the cooperative multiplayer that has everyone excited.  What's On TV? got updated with the ability to send Push Notifications for TV shows that are about to start.  Chipotle re-released their ordering app so you won't ever have to go a day without a burrito.  The Iconfactory released Ramp Champ, a skee ball simulator for your iPhone and iPod touch.  EA finally took the wraps off of Madden 10 by showing off some screenshots, so now all we have to do is wait for its impending release.
