Another Twitter App Receives A Name Change; TwitterFon Is Now Echofon
September 15, 2009
Just like NibiruTech's iTwitter, now known as Twitbird Pro, Naan Studio's TwitterFon has received a name change. TwitterFon is now Echofon, which we first assumed was to avoid copyright issues, once again just like NibiruTech, although the developers have stated that it was merely a way to unify the names of their products.
Besides the name change, Echofon Pro for the iPhone and iPod touch now supports Push Notifications for both mentions and direct messages. The free version of Echofon will be receiving Push Notifications in the near future.
Echofon Pro is also now able to sync unread messages with Naan Studios Echofon for Firefox Twitter extension, which means that if you utilize both services you won't have to read the same tweet twice. The developers state that a separate Mac OS X application, which will be able to do more of the same, is "coming soon."
Echofon is now available in the App Store for $4.99.
What do you think of the new name and icon? Does it "unify" their products or cause confusion?
