NaturalMotion has just released their new football "mini-game" for the iPhone and iPod touch titled Backbreaker Football, and although it isn't meant to directly compete with the likes of Madden NFL 10 or NFL 2010, it definitely should satisfy your hard-hitting football cravings.
backbreaker_screen“This new app gives the world an early taste of the Backbreaker experience,” said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion. "The fact that we have been able to bring such fluid animation and slick 3D visuals to the iPhone further demonstrates its capability as a gaming platform.”
First and foremost, Backbreaker Football is intended to be a visually stunning mini-game.  It is actually inspired by NaturalMotion's Backbreaker game for the Xbox 360 and PS3, except it is merely the running portion.  In the game you are required to dodge oncoming waves of defenders by utilizing on-screen and accelerometer controls.  In the process, you will be racking up point combos and multipliers on your way to the endzone. The game features some inspiring tackle animations, awards, two different modes, player customization, Facebook integration, and unlockable content. Backbreaker Football is now available in the App Store at the introductory price of $.99.  It will eventually be raised to its original price of $1.99. Embedded below is a gameplay trailer for Backbreaker Football.
