Week In Review - September 19th Edition
September 19, 2009

This week AppAdvice started offering sneak peeks for upcoming games. They allow you fine folks to get a glimpse at what some of the App Store's best developers have to offer. This week we were able to get hands-on time with Craneball Studios' unique line drawing game 33rd Division. We also spent some time with Godzilab's iBlast Moki, an adorable physics-based puzzler. Only iBlast Moki is available in the App Store at this time, but 33rd Division should eventually make it's way there as well. Keep watching for more sneak peeks!
The competition is heating up
Nintendo and Sony have decided to directly compete with Apple in the casual gaming department by having iPhone exclusive developers port their games over to the competing platforms. Sony struck first by offering "Minis," which is their term for small casual games, but we found out they just can't compare with the iPhone's games thanks to the lack of online connectivity. Nintendo also jumped right into the ring by nabbing Fieldrunners, Castle of Magic, and Flight Control.
12 days of giveaways
No, it's not the holiday season yet, we just wanted to give back to the community that has given so much to us by offering 12 days of MusicSkins giveaways. So far we have had a great turnout over the first five days, so let's keep the great comments coming. Just for the record, we have given away not one but two explodingdogs, Obama, Bob Marley, and Skelanimals skins. The last giveaway will officially take place this Friday, September 25th, so keep watching the site.
The odd world of iPhone accessories
This week's iPhone accessories were somewhat odd. The first of the three releases included a recession-friendly cardboard iPhone case. The second was an iPhone beanbag for easy movie viewing. The third and final hardware accessory was a mini tripod. I guess in their own way, each and every one one of these three accessories could be extremely useful. Ack, who am I kidding? The cardboard case is obviously the best and most useful accessory, and it's only $.99!
New and noteworthy apps
Vogster Entertainment's long-awaited RTS game Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem finally hit the App Store. Chillingo released Super Shock Football, a game that allows you to turn your iPhone into an electronic vibrating football field. Tumblebugs entered the marble shooting game fray. Gameloft released their Diablo-like Dungeon Hunter only to remove it hours later due to a bug. Aardvark Mobile is now able to answer your questions on-the-go. Dexter sliced up the iPhone and iPod touch. A smorgasbord of new games hit the App Store all at once and you can check them all out in a single post.
