I was taught that it’s important for a company to have a holistic vision of marketing, every single employee must think and worry about it. Well, I never thought this extended as far as the legal department, but I guess Verizon did.

Indeed, Verizon’s lawyers just answered AT&T concerning their lawsuit for false advertisement and it’s just as good as the print ads:

AT&T did not file this lawsuit because Verizon’s “There’s A Map For That” advertisements are untrue; AT&T sued because Verizon’s ads are true and the truth hurts.

Furthermore :

In the final analysis, AT&T seeks emergency relief because Verizon’s side-by-side, apples-to-apples comparison of its own 3G coverage with AT&T’s confirms what the marketplace has been saying for months: AT&T failed to invest adequately in the necessary infrastructure to expand its 3G coverage to support its growth in smartphone business, and the usefulness of its service to smartphone users has suffered accordingly.

I understand that they are standing by their campaign but why so aggressive?

  1. I’ve had 3G service in Augusta GA for almost 6 months now and the AT&T 3G coverage map that Verizon is showing does not show any 3G service near Augusta, GA. So how old is the map they are displaying?

  2. Yes AT&T service sucks… But is not like Verizon is trying to make it look. Their speeds suck really bad too 1.5 mbits… At least AT&T is aiming at better speeds, handsets and prices.
