Apple Patents Its Own Latitude For The iPhone
December 31, 2009
Apple just patented its own location-aware technology for the iPhone. On top of presenting some new features, it might actually very well explain why Apple rejected Google Latitude as a native app.
Their implementation is meant to let you share your location with your friends through SMS or IM and then display it in the maps application.
It's not really revolutionary since location awareness is kind of a big thing lately and you see it in every other app but an official implementation is definitely welcome.
