Live In The U.S. And Don't Travel To Canada? Save Some Money With TomTom's New U.S.A.-Only iPhone App
December 11, 2009
The iPhone navigation app market has become extremely competitive as of late, and to combat this recent influx of mostly quality apps, TomTom has decided to offer a new, cheaper version of their own navigation app that provides maps for only the U.S.A.
TomTom U.S.A. is essentially TomTom's U.S. & Canada app with Canada yanked from the map in order for it to be provided at a cheaper cost. It still covers all U.S. states and Puerto Rico, and it contains all of the features from v1.2 of the U.S. & Canada app, including advanced lane guidance that operates in both landscape and portrait mode, text-to-speech, a “Help Me” feature that provides direct access to emergency numbers and directions to the nearest emergency providers, customizable audio warnings, iPod player control, and updated maps, POIs, and IQ routes. It even supports the iPod touch just like its Canadian counterpart, as long as you use a premium car kit.
TomTom U.S.A. is now available in the App Store for the introductory price of $49.99 until December 28th, which isn't too shabby for those of you not traveling to the fine country of Canada.
