Apple Lifts 3G VoIP Restrictions : First 3G Calling App Is Out & The iPad Can Be Used As A Phone

January 28, 2010

Apple has just officially lifted the ban for apps to make VoIP calls over 3G!

With all this iPad fuss, the timing for such a change is a little bit troubling, but I guess we shouldn't complain.

Anyway, only minutes after updating the SDK, Apple has in the movement also approved its very first 3G VoIP app. It's actually an update of iCall and it's available now.

On a further note, since the app is fully compatible with the iPad, it can be used as a phone.

Mentioned apps
