Sony Exec Thinks Apple Is Boosting PSP Sales

February 1, 2010

Sony's Director of Hardware Marketing, John Koller, came up with a line that will make any iDevice owner frown. According to him:

Apple's entrance into the portable gaming space has been a net positive for Sony. When people want a deeper, richer console, they start playing on a PSP.

While I'm still trying to figure out what could possibly a PSP have over an iPod Touch (is it the buttons?), it seems like he's drawing those conclusions from the fact that PSP's have been actually selling a lot better over the last two years. Is there a connection though? I doubt it.
