The Iconfactory Hopes To Have An iPad-Optimized Version Of Twitterrific Available At Launch
February 25, 2010
When you think about what the best iPad-optimized app would be, what's the first thing that comes to mind? A word processing app? A game? A comic book reader? What about Twitter apps? Yes, Twitter apps! Tweetdeck looks and works wonderfully on my MacBook's 13.3" screen, allowing me to be the best Twitterer I can possibly be. Just imagine that kind of power on an even more portable device, the iPad. But none of the major iPhone Twitter app developers have committed to the iPad quite yet, including Tweetdeck. That is until now.
In our quest to track down every potential iPad app developer, we decided to shoot an email to Gedeon Maheux of the Iconfactory in hopes of getting some juicy details regarding Twitterrific for the iPad. Although we didn't come away with any screenshots or specific information, we were able to confirm that they are indeed working on an iPad-optimized version of Twitterrific and that it should be available at launch.
"We are indeed planning on bringing our Twitter client, Twitterrific, to the iPad and have been working on it almost since the day the device was announced," said Gedeon Maheux. "We're shooting to have Twitterrific for the iPad ready for the launch of the device. It's a huge undertaking to be sure and gives me great respect for companies like the Omni Group who have publicly stated they want to have *several* of their apps ready for the iPad's launch."Maheux also mentioned that the Iconfactory was working on an "all-new product" for the iPad that won't be available until Spring. What this new product is is anyone's guess. As the iPad's launch date approaches, it will be interesting to see how many more developers come out and tell the world what they have been working on.
