The iPad Causes An App Development Rush

February 13, 2010

Apple's App Store "approvers" better be ready for this. According to Flurry's latest report, which I mentioned yesterday already, January has seen a rush in the number of new apps developed for the iPhone. This spike of over 1,600 new iPhone projects is the single largest one ever registered by Flurry. And apparently, this would have everything to do with the iPad launch:
Historically, Flurry has measured surges in new application starts within its system in anticipation of new device launches, including for the Motorola Droid and iPhone 3GS. As such, we hypothesize that excitement generated by Apple’s iPad event in January is driving this growth. For developers who get a jump on customizing their applications for the iPad, there may be an opportunity to stand out early on, and earn more downloads
Furthermore, they also noticed that the interest in iPhone development against the Android, is strong again, despite of a slight fall in December. So plenty of new apps coming soon on the Android iPhone, let's just hope they won't be boring. [via BrainstormTech]
