Transformers G1: Awakening Rolls Into The App Store
February 25, 2010
Transformers G1: Awakening was originally released for mobile phones back in 2008, but Glu Mobile has retooled the controls for the iPhone and iPod touch version of the game, which has just rolled into the App Store.
Transformers G1: Awakening is a game designed for you hardcore Transformers fans, as it is based on the original story. The game is a turn-based strategy affair where you must use the strengths of your Autobots to defeat the Decepticons across 17 campaign levels.
In the game you are able to move your units a certain number of squares, attack foes, and capture important structures in order to obtain energon which allows you reactive, repair, and upgrade Transformers. The game plays like most turn-based strategy games with the exception of your ability to transform into a vehicle. This allows you to quickly travel across the map, saving precious turns, but it also leaves you vulnerable to attacks.
The game features 23 characters from the original series, including fan favorites Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Frenzy, and Starscream, 3D cel-shaded graphics, old school combat animations, Showdown mode, and an Arena mode that will allow you to take on a friend via pass 'n play or just play against enemy AI.
Transformers G1: Awakening is now available in the App Store for $4.99. If you are a big Transformers fan, you should not miss this one.
