CollegeKidApp Has An iPad App Ready For Launch Day And It's Not Battery Go! HD

March 29, 2010

The guys at CollegeKidApp somehow found the time to develop an iPad app even with their busy college schedules and no, it's not an iPad-optimized version of Battery Go!, their original claim to fame.  This time around CollegeKidApp has decided to create a much more entertaining app -- a game actually -- titled Tap Blaster HD.
"We can't wait to spend more time on iPad game development. I couldn't even begin to explain all of the amazing game play ideas which came to mind while working on Tap Blaster HD. This device is going to revolutionize how people play games, much like the Nintendo Wii did, mostly because it offers a completely new experience and possibilities which were never possible before" said Cameron Banga.
Tap Blaster HD is kind of like air hockey in space with faster, more hectic gameplay.  The game features both single and multiplayer gameplay, but multiplayer will be where all the fun is had. It works a little something like this.  Each player takes a hold of one side of the iPad.  You have a ship, or what we will just call a paddle, that must be used to stop the oncoming discs that your opponent is able to fire at you by tapping the middle portion of the screen.  Players are able to fire up to three discs each at a time, so there can be six on the playing field at once. If you fail to stop an oncoming disc and it hits your planet, that disc will disappear and your opponent will score a point.  Five points and you win.  Discs that have been destroyed will regenerate and appear back in your supply, located on each side of the screen, meaning that each player will always be able to have three discs on the screen at all times. Tap Blaster HD should, pending Apple's approval, be available in time for the iPad's launch on April 3rd for the introductory price of $.99.  The price will eventually be raised to $2.99. Tap Blaster HD is an iPad-only game, but the guys at CollegeKidApp plan on bringing it over to the iPhone and iPod touch, albeit in a form that's much more suitable for their smaller screens.
