I was able to meet with Phil Hassey, the developer of Galcon, during GDC. He will be bringing Galcon Fusion to the iPad pretty close to launch, April 3rd, and will just figure out the best control scheme after actually holding it in his hands. Now if you don't know Galcon Fusion it's the PC/Mac version of the Galcon you know on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The computer version builds upon everything making it so that each time you play it's a full on battle that takes a lot longer than a minute or two like the iPhone version.
If you don't know Glacon, see our review of Galcon Labs. It's basically a real time strategy game set in space where you direct a certain number of ships to various planets in an attempt conquer the current galaxy on screen.
Fusion has an expansive map of around 40-60 planets where the iPhone version has about 20. The best aspect is that it will be practically a full port of the PC version just simply running on your iPad with touch controls. Galcon Fusion is all about multiplayer, and more about having four players rather than limited to head to head.
The iPad version will connect right into the multiplayer system so that you can play opponents who are on their PC while you're on your iPad. Also included is a chat function which allows you to work out plans of attack as these battles take quite a bit of time. The game will feature more than just multiplayer with the classic mode, as well as all the gameplay modes in Galcon Labs.
Overall it will be a bigger more immersive Glacon experience with cross platform connectivity. See all the full size screenshots and video below of how much space battling action you'll be seeing on your iPad. *Note all from PC version, but shouldn't be much different on the iPad.
