Games To Download For Free Today: Mole, Timeloop, iSink U, And Scoops

March 5, 2010

It looks like we have another Friday loaded with quality free games.  Today's free games are brought to you by developers Roo Games, Connect2Media, Artificial Life, and NimbleBit. Mole - Quest for the Terracore Gem! ($1.99 -> Free): A touch controlled digging game that will have you guiding Mark the mole through the earth in search for the fabled terracore gem.  You control Mark entirely via touch controls, tapping and dragging in whatever direction you want him to dig in.  On your journey through the Earth you will come across gems that will add to your score and precious metal that is needed to upgrade your equipment to dig even deeper. The game features four different mining ranks, 10 achievements to obtain, online leaderboards, the ability to boast about your score on Twitter, and a customizable UI to accommodate left and right handed users. Mole will be available for free until Sunday, March 14th in celebration of GDC. Timeloop ($.99 -> Free): A puzzle game that will have you controlling Nik the janitor droid as he attempts to save scientists by traveling through time.  In the game Nik must travel through the Timeloop machine in order to be in multiple places at once to open doors and gather items.  Each of the 32 puzzle levels have multiple solutions so you can go through the game in your own unique way, but you must hurry, as each level has a time limit. You will be awarded with a medal after each level completed based on how quickly you were able to solve the puzzle.  The game also features OpenFeint integration in order to allow you to compare your scores with friends. Timeloop will be available for free through Sunday, March 7th. iSink U ($.99 -> Free): Think of this one as Battleship with a few extra bells and whistles.  Just like Battleship, the game requires you to place your ships (and 1 submarine) on a map and attack your enemy by lobbing bombs randomly at their map to discover their placement.  The catch, however, is that each round you can shoot your primary weapon up to five times, launch your secondary weapon once, or move a single ship, adding a bit more strategy than one would expect. The game features 10 maps across four environments, two game modes including multiplayer pass and play, medals to earn, and local leaderboards. iSink U will be available for free through Sunday, March 7th. Scoops ($.99 -> Free): If for whatever reason you haven't picked this one up yet for free, now's your chance.  NimbleBit's most popular casual game, Scoops, requires you to tilt your device side to side to collect the falling ice cream scoops.  You can obtain multipliers by collecting scoops of the same kind, but you must watch out for the falling vegetables because not only will they break your multiplier, they will also cause you to lose a life.  Lose three lives and the game is over. Scoops features local and global leaderboards.  It now also features themes, one of which is a free SkyBurger theme.  The other two themes are Doodle and Kawaii, and each costs $.99. Scoops is available for free for a limited time in celebration of Dizzypad's recent success.
