If you're still struggling to come up with the cash for an iPad, iPodMeister has a sweet deal for you; If you manage to ship them 600CDs, they'll swap them for no less than an iPad.
While your olds CDs might have pretty much no value over here (other than sentimental really), it's not the case in certain poorer countries where CD players are still a popular way to consume music. In short, iPodMeister's business is to buy these (swap actually) from you on the cheap, and resell them somewhere else.
After doing this for a little while now with devices like the iPhone (220 CDs) or the touch (300), they have just extended their offer to the iPad. Depending on the amount of CDs you bring in, you can treat yourself to any model from a 16GB Wi-Fi only for 600CDs, all the way to a premium 64GB 3G one for 1150 units. There are however some restrictions:
All genres of discs are accepted, with certain limitations. No porn, no scratched discs, no promotional discs, and 20 copies of your garage band’s CD are verboten.
The album cover art plus the CD folder must be intact and in good shape. Promotional compilation discs, such as “Macy’s Favorite Christmas Songs” are not taken. Blu-ray discs get you double credit, and each disc of a multi-disc collection are counted. Shipping of the discs to iPodMeister is free.
I have a feeling that folks with such a collection might not really go for this but who knows.
Any volunteers to try it out?
